(July 30 - 6:42 a.m.) Fans of Retro 1260, KGIL, get a real treat on the weekends. The Pop Standards have a decidedly 50s/60s Oldies flair while Sunday night Jerry Sharell spends three hours playing songs from the ‘Great American Songbook.’ Jerry gets some great guests. In the next few weeks his guests include:  Bob Crewe, Monica Mancini, Pat Boone and Vic Damone.

Jerry has had quite the career in the music business since graduating from Kent State University, where he worked as a dj for the local stations. He started in the record business as a promotion rep for Mercury records in Cleveland. With executive positions at both Buddah Records and A&M Records, he was instrumental in the success of many recording artists including: Herb Alpert, The Carpenters, Joe Cocker, The Impressions, and Curtis Mayfield.

In 1973 Jerry was hired by David Geffen to manage the Asylum Record label, which then merged with Elektra Records. He spent a decade at the labels in senior executive positions. In 1983, he headed the MCA Video Distribution system followed by five years as senior vp at Westwood One.

In the mid-90s Jerry joined WEA as director of media relations. Since 2002, he has served as president/ceo for the non-profit charity, Society of Singers.
