(July 27 - 7:32 a.m.) Univision has entered into a consent decree with the FCC under which it will pay $1 million to resolve allegations that Univision Radio or its employees accepted payment from a record label in return for airplay. This practice was outlawed a half century ago, yet it apparently never went away. In Los Angeles, Univision owns: KSCA (La Nueva), KTNQ, KLVE (K-LOVE), KRCD/KRCV (Recuerdo).  Additionally, a federal court has accepted the plea of Univision to criminal charges based on the same facts.

The LA Times front-page Business section story this morning detailed: "In one instance, a Los Angeles-based Univision executive in February 2006 sent a Federal Express package that contained $157,800 to a New York station programmer, according to court documents filed with the plea agreement. Program managers in California and Texas also received bribes.
